Recently Captain Keith Colburn of the F/V Wizard, from the hit Discovery Channel show “Deadliest Catch”, met with numerous Continental Airlines employees at Newark Liberty Airport. His visit included meeting with all work groups where he would speak about the hazards he faces while captaining his boat. His visit was highlighted by speaking at a luncheon, which was attended by approx 100 members of the Newark Management team. “It was a pleasure to have Captain Colburn visit us during the week. Employees were excited to hear some of his stories he shared of what actually happens when out to sea and the safety precautions he takes. Northwest Children's Fund Charity Golf Classic
On September 19th, Capt. Keith dusted off his nine iron and tightened up his spikes before hitting the links in support of charity. Former New York Yankee and Seattle Mariner Jeff Nelson hosted this year's Northwest Children's Fund Charity Golf Tournament at Trilogy Golf Club at Redmond Ridge. Capt. Keith was teamed up with retired Seattle Seahawk Randall Morris and former 49er stand out Charlie Young. The team placed 4th in the scramble format tournament; Capt. Keith readily admitted, " Randall and Charlie carried the team." Monte also participated in the tournament, and according to the Capt. he played well. While neither of the Colburn brothers will be trading their captain's chair in for a career on fairways and greens, they were proud to be a part of an event that raised over 70 thousand dollars for Northwest Children's Fund.
Fashion First Seattle
When one thinks of Bering Sea crab fishermen, images of grizzled men wearing yellow fishing slickers and slime covered boots would normally come to mind. However, on August 7 that image was shattered as our very own Capt. Keith Colubrn strutted down the Fashion First runway wearing designer duds in support of Seattle's Starlight Foundation. Fashion First is a showcase for Seattle's hottest fashion designers and boutiques. Last year's event raised over $32,000 dollars for the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation.

Capt. Keith expressed that he was notably nervous prior to taking the stage, but as he reflected on the evening's events he conceded that it wasn't as bad as he expected. In addition to donning designer clothing and modeling it on the catwalk, Capt. Keith and Florence donated several items to the silent auction.

Prior to taking the stage at Fashion First, Capt. Keith joined Art Peterson and Travis Lofland at a local Comcast event to meet fans and promote Discovery Channel. CablePalooza is a promotional event that showcases quality T.V. programming to advertisers. Over 26 programmers and 600 guests attended this event.
